An Every Day Walk
Each day, we have another opportunity to decide how we will move through life.
For me, that began quite literally with walking again, after a time of having fought through some health battles and other sad seasons in our family, and not taking as great care of myself as I needed to do.
I wanted to get outside, take one step after another, talk with people along the way, and make space for conversations about everyday life and faith. Walking gave me room to think, pray, notice what was around me, and remember that moving forward does not always have to perform great on social media—where I used to do lots of work for others. It can be privately felt, personally celebrated for what it is, and a moment to be grateful to God for it.
Sometimes moving forward simply looks like taking the next step.
There were seasons when I walked with my head down, carrying shame, uncertainty, or other feelings that informed me I was not seeing life through the right lens or with the right heart posture. Over time, God began teaching me to walk differently—not because every difficulty had disappeared, but because I was learning to place greater value on the purpose He had given me. As the old inaugural post said: “This season of shame is canceled.”
I wanted to receive whatever God had for me and trust that every moment placed before me could become an opportunity for His light to shine.
That includes the ordinary moments.
Not every day feels like a peaceful walk along a sunlit path. Some days are tiring, confusing, busy, or painful. Yet each morning still brings another chance to notice something, learn something, encourage someone, or begin again.
An every day walk is not necessarily an ordinary one.
We can keep moving forward while also making room to rest. We can encourage and be encouraged… We can love and allow ourselves to be loved… We can hold on to hope and offer hope to someone else.
There may be times when we need to pause, change direction, or start over. Starting again does not mean we have failed. It means we are still willing to continue.
“So, let’s begin,” I had said with hope and cheer. I made a new live video on a walk for over a year, and then COVID restrictions were lifted, the roof and foundation of the house we were in started to have troubles, and I took on extra work to help more in different ways with the practical issues in our daily lives. Life lifed…work…worked. Health…healthed.
Now we have moved into an entirely new place, our kids are grown up, and we are all working on our own things…and I have begun to share more of my writing with others again. I have gone back to college, am working on my health more proactively, begun gardening again, and am focused on some entirely new things as well. I look forward to sharing with you, and hope it blesses you greatly over time, in any way you might need.
When this blog first started, I planned to write, make videos, and share encouragement connected to the days I walked. Although this space is now becoming a home for older posts and a pathway toward something new, I still want to keep this place available for you, and also share here some special things I will be making for you to enjoy on your every day walk of life.
Most of us walk in some form every day. We take physical steps, but we are also walking through seasons, relationships, decisions, growth, and faith.
My hope is that something shared here will give you a moment to pause, feel refreshed, and remember that you do not have to have the whole journey figured out before taking your next step.
Thank you for walking with me.
